Beach to Chowder Run and Walk Will Kick Off Summer Season on the Long Beach Peninsula |

March 28, 2007 The whole family is invited to challenge their legs and appease their taste buds with the 30th Annual Beach to Chowder Run and Walk, in Long Beach, on Saturday, June 16. The relaxed 5K run/walk and the exhilarating 10K run both promise great ocean views as well as ocean breezes. For all those reaching the finish line, the event offers personal satisfaction, awards for top finishers and steaming bowls of scrumptious clam chowder. Chowder Run awards will be given to runners finishing in the top three places for women and men in each of nine age-group divisions. Trophies will be given to the top overall male and female finishers. All ages and levels of ability are welcome and spectators are invited to cheer on the participants. The Chowder Feed and Awards Ceremony will take place at noon in Long Beach with food, music and fun for spectators and participants. Trophies and ribbons will be presented, and there will be a random drawing for prizes donated by local merchants. Non-participants can join in the chowder feast for $5. Races will be held from 10AM to 11:30AM. Registration fees are $22 with a short sleeve t-shirt or $10 without a shirt for early registration and $24 and $12 respectively until the day of the race (with no guarantee of an available shirt).
