LONG BEACH, Wash. August 3, 2006 – One of the Peninsula’s most enjoyed summer pleasures, Jazz & Oysters will take place at the historic Oysterville Schoolhouse on Sunday, August 20, the day before the Washington State International Kite Festival begins its week of festivities on the Long Beach Peninsula.

The unique sounds of regional favorite Brownsmead Flats will open Jazz & Oysters this year with a morning gospel performance from 10:30AM to 12PM. The cost is $5 per person. Famed vocalist and saxophone player Reggie Houston (who has played with Fats Domino, Charles Neville, Charmaine Neville and other jazz greats) and the Earth Island Band will perform an afternoon of jazz from 1PM to 5PM. Tickets are $15 each.

Jazz & Oysters promises an enjoyable day of great musical entertainment, beer and wine garden, oysters on the BBQ, fruit and cheese plates, and scrumptious desserts from the Peninsula’s renowned restaurants. An all-day pass is $18. Tickets for children age six to 12 are half price. Admission for children five years and under is free. Guests are requested to refrain from bringing food from outside the venue and to leave pets at home. Mail-in ticket order forms can be downloaded at http://www.watermusicfestival.com/pages/tickets.html.

Located on the southwestern-most coast of Washington State, the Long Beach Peninsula is rich in tradition and raw beauty. Surrounded by the Pacific Ocean, Columbia River and Willapa Bay, this enchanting 28-mile long sandy cape is a refuge for migrating birds and people seeking the solace of a seaside retreat. For destination information, contact the Long Beach Peninsula Visitors Bureau at 1-800-451-2542 or access the Peninsula’s web site at www.funbeach.com.
