A Bouquet Of Long Beach Peninsula Gardens Will Be On Display On June 17 As A Benefit For The Water Music Festival |

May 22, 2006 Twelve uniquely designed gardens and six specialty nurseries on the Long Beach Peninsula will be showcased on Saturday, June 17, from 9AM to 4PM. A benefit for the Water Music Festival, “Music in the Gardens” will include a delightful array of garden types from English Victorian gardens to Japanese Rake gardens and everything in between. Tickets are $10 per person. The “Music in the Gardens” tour includes gardens at four bed and breakfast establishments and eight at private residences from Seaview to Osterville. ”Each garden was chosen for its beauty and unique attributes,” explains Patti Jacobsen, event organizer and owner of the Rose Cottage. “Our coastal setting creates many gardening challenges as well as a wealth of inspiration.” An edible flowers garden, a collected garden, cottage gardens, a bog garden, a bird gazebo, a solarium, a bonsai collection, rock gardens, a Zen garden, cutting gardens, vegetable gardens, ponds and fountains are among the many features of the tour. Participating nurseries will offer advice, giveaways, musical accompaniment and more. Blackwood Beach Cottages will provide a wine tasting at their gardens for a $3 fee, with proceeds benefiting the Water Music Festival Society. As a complement to the tour, Ann Kischner, pastry chef and co-owner, will present an English High Tea at her Shoalwater Restaurant at the historic Shelburne Inn. The tea will take place from 11:30AM to 3PM and include traditional delectables such as finger sandwiches, savory and sweet tarts, scones with lemon curd, steeping hot pots of tea, and more. Reservations are required and may be made by calling (360) 642-4142 by Friday, June 16. Cost of the tea is $20 per person (not including tax and gratuity). Tickets for the “Music in the Gardens” tour are $10 and will be available for purchase only on the day of the event.
