Great links, easy to navigate & loaded w/ info. Long Beach is my favorite in-state vacation destination. I love the atmosphere and how friendly everyone is. Thanks for the memories Long Beach! My 85 year-old mother and I spent several days on the Peninsula last week, and we were so thrilled to discover the Discovery Trail. My mother has been spending every summer since she was born (and her mother and aunt before that) in Seaview, and so it is a very nostalgic trip to come back down to the happy days of her childhood. For several years now my mother has needed to use a walker, and while she still would insist on walking the Beach--and with great determination, she's been limited to the Seaview beach approach (and more recently, the Boardwalk) Each year, we would hear her telling us what she "used to do"--all the wonderful places she used to explore and enjoy. What great joy it brought her (and thus me) this year that she could actually access many of her favorite childhood places (and smells and sights and sounds). The paved trail is so terrific---its gentle turns and ups and downs are the way she likes to hike -- and its smoothness is so great for a walking woman with walker who wants to walk! We would approach the Trail from various entrances, so that over the week we covered almost all! She is already eagerly looking forward to coming down again. I want to thank those of you who conceived of this trail, and I hope you can share the joy it has brought my mother and, I'm sure, many others. The new Slide Show on the your home page is AWESOME! Once again your site is the "Bees-Knees" and you should start a school to teach other Webmasters in the travel/destination marketing business with a title such as "How to Build the Most Effective and User Friendly Websites". I have been coming to Long Beach since I was a child and my Grandmother lived there.(1958) We hope to live there someday. We come every year on Memorial Day week-end and again to bring our 11 grandchildren the last week of July. It is the highlight of the year for all of us. In 2006 we had a real treasure hunt. This year we are going to do a fishing derby at Black Lake. The grandkids start asking in January when the next beach trip is going to be. WE LOVE THIS PLACE!!!! On August 12, 2004, my husband and I were married in Long Beach. The peninsula has a special meaning to us, and we wanted to have a close, intimate ceremony with only immediate family somewhere very private and comfortable. It was a bit overwhelming to plan at first, until we found your wedding planner on funbeach.com. We held the ceremony at A Rendezvous Place Bed and Breakfast, and were thrilled with the assistance and support we were offered by everyone in the area. The people at the visitor's bureau were so friendly and helpful, and we truly feel that we would not have been able to have the day we were able to have without the wonderful people who we spoke to. Since then, we have referred two couples to the area for their weddings, and go back at least 2-3 times every year. It's not just the activities, food, and beach that have kept us coming back, but the people who work there to keep the Long Beach Peninsula a great place! Thank you! The 5 hour flight and 2 hour drive from Portland was definitely worth it. We often had the question, "Why did you come out here from New Jersey?" The Pacific is much different from the Atlantic. In fact my parents live in Ocean Park and it a great way for me and see whats is going on there and the webcams are the best part my dad has a boat in Ilwaco and I can see his boat from the cam.
