Visitors to the Peninsula are delighted with the many activities geared for families, teens and children. In typical seaside fashion, Long Beach offers a variety of amusements, including a carousel and carnival rides.
Children of all ages enjoy renting a bicycle-built-for-two or a 3-wheeler without handlebars and cruising the beach. Go-Carts are popular year-round, with a smaller, more basic track for the youngsters and a larger, more adventurous track for those simply young at heart. Mopeds are a fun way to scoot about town or beach; a valid driver's license is required.
From Bumper Cars with air cushions or electric arms to Bumper Boats, old-fashioned pin-ball and carnival games or high-tech video arcade experiences...there's something for the child in everyone.
The Peninsula boasts the world's largest clam pan, a frying pan once used in a Peninsula Clam Festival and now displayed in a downtown Long Beach park. Many wooden carvings of sea life dot the main streets of this town.
Additional recreational activities in the area include an active bowling alley and the River City School's dance lessons in Ilwaco and tennis courts and softball fields up and down the Peninsula. Freshwater and saltwater fishing opportunities abound; don't miss the best charter fishing on the west coast out of Ilwaco! Take surfing lessons, visit our local card room or casino, play a rousing round of paintball or lazer tag, and get an old-tyme photo taken as a memento of your stay. Quilting, art, and crafts classes are popular diversions as well. Check out our community calendar for happenings during your stay.
